The Endocannabinoid System (ECS) was not discovered until the 1980s. The ECS system is a Master Regulator of many critical systems in your body and is found in humans and all complex animals including dogs and cats. See the diagram for the major systems regulated by the ECS:
THE ENDOCANNABINOID SYSTEM
Receptors - CB1 and CB2
There are 2 known types of receptors in the ECS, CB1 and CB2. Your body produces endocannabinoids that bind to the receptors and regulate your body's major systems. If your body is in perfect homeostasis, or in balance, your systems will be regulated properly. Stress, nutrition, injury, sleep and many other things can affect your body's ability to produce endocannabinoids to regulate these systems which has adverse affects on your systems and causes many different symptoms.
Phytocannabinoids and CBD
The Hemp plant has many beneficial compounds. Cannibidiol, or CBD, has some of the most potent effects as it easily binds with the bodies CB1 and CB2 receptors and helps the body balance when it is out of homeostasis by filling the shortfalls in the endocannabinoid production. This is how CBD helps the ECS and thus helps regulate the systems show in the above diagram. Many are amazed how many health benefits to so many areas of the body are touted by CBD users, but as you can see by the nature of the master system how many systems in the body the ECS regulates it is clear how wide the health benefits can be from an ECS in homeostasis.
Is CBD for me?
If your body is out of homeostasis CBD can help regulate that, and many ailments we experience are due to a body out of balance or out of homeostasis. It does not take much to send the body out of balance. If you have perfect nutrition all the time, no stress, sleep perfectly, and have no injury or pain you may not benefit from CBD, but if you are like almost all of us there are likely benefits you can achieve from the homeostasis CBD helps provide.
